A Man. A Plan. A Canal. Panama.
Hmmmm. Indiana Jones. Panama Brown.... it could work! Everything but the Canal sounds good.
Here's the official Rapids release on the new signing.
This is our biggest signing of the season (not counting the loss of Old Man Joe 'MVP' Cannon).
My favorite quote from Dick'stator Plush in another article about the acquisition:
"Clearly a Mexican national or a South American player makes more sense here than an Eastern European, just from our ethnic background here," Plush said. "They have to want to come here, too. We live in Denver because we love it. It's still a smaller market. It's not New York City. It's not Los Angeles. So we have to find the right person who's going to adapt here and be excited to be here."
Nice. Thanks for slamming us to the world. Next time? Put the "rock" in Rocky Mountains.
Plus, Señor Plush, it's too bad we signed a Central American instead of a Mexican Int'l or South American as you suggest. I didn't realize we had a huge Panamese contingent living in Denver to cater to? Cool. Never had Panamanian food.
Wel-l-l-l, he plays for the powerhouse Panamanian National Team. He last played for a club team in Uruguay. Hmmmm. Uruguay. Sounds familiar for some reason. That's right. It's where our head coach vacations.
Plush has this to say: “Fernando’s experienced eye for scouting talent, along with the strategic partnerships that we are building with selected teams around the world, have led us to be able to reach out to players like Brown,” said Colorado Rapids Managing Director Jeff Plush.
BilFish had this to say: International teams around the world phooey! FC went to Uruguay to visit relatives in the off-season, came back with the guy who lives just down the street, that nice Brown fellow.
Otherwise, we know little about him. See the great info from his last club and be astounded! BTW - Delantero means "forward." Not even a height measurement.
I'm sorry to sound a bit pessimistic, but it would just be nice to know a bit more about this guy we just signed. However, I'm willing to settle for Brown simply fleshing out his own résumé right here at The Dick with a dozen goals.
Maybe Brownie can do a Baker's dozen for us!
