US Open Cup starts tonight!
I know, I know. It's a Wednesday, and it might be cold.
But on the good side, we have a Fake Salt Lake team in complete disarray coming to visit, adding to their hectic travel schedule. They lost in Dallas on Sunday, visit The Dick this evening, and go to Chicago on Sunday.
Bummer for them.
The best news for us, of course, is that the logjam caused by Kirovski's dead body at midfield will be unstuck and Cancela is expected to start. The logjam at forward (caused, oddly enough, by having a lot of forwards on the roster) will be cleared out so Conor Casey can finally get on the field for real minutes. Good stuff!
Oh, back to FSL: If you haven't heard, FSL's Cunningham was traded to Toronto FC yesterday, in exchange for Eskandarian, a 1st-round draft pick in 2008, and cash.
I'm starting to believe the rumors that Cunningham isn't a happy influence in the locker room. But I know Fernando reads the Class VI website daily to find out the latest news... and I have to say the Cunni for Mathis trade still sucks.
Why? Because the Rapids ended up getting Mathis, and then trading him for 2 six-packs of beer. Cunni for two six-packs? Not a good deal. FSL? They traded Cunni and got a nice striker as well as a first-round draft pick next year.
However, Bob Bradley's idiot move recently to give up a Designated Player spot for Amado Guevara gets top billing in my mind. FC is off the hook, I guess.
Sorry, I digressed a bit there. Gametime: 7:00pm. Tailgate starts at 5:00pm, but beer is BYO and food is random potluck, please bring something. Tickets $10 at the game, $7 if you are a season ticket holder and email Marcus asap today.
