Class VI indoor soccer team is looking for 4 to 5 more players - if you're intereste in playing in the upcoming season (starts September 10th) drop an email to Josh at JOqueli@ozarch.com.
Cost estimate is 40-50 dollars.
Josh has all the information - Everyone had a really good time (except me who only broke his leg!)
Hope to see everyone at the game Wednesday - this game is ENORMOUS - the Rapids haven't been taking points lately - and this Conference game against Dallas is very important as we're suddenly in risk of not making the playoffs! Let's be vocal Wednesday and give the team the support they need!
If you have one of the international flags (or the American ones) PLEASE bring them to the game - and after the game - return them to me (Mark) - so that we can be sure they are at every game.
Finally, and this is very important - I'm looking for 3 people who would like to be involved more in Class VI's future. Right now the idea is to have a committee that will discuss ideas and execution of things. If you are interested please contact me as soon as possible.
Also, I've only heard from three people they'd be interested in an end of the season gathering - if you are interested please let me know or that idea will be scraped.
And finally just and FYI - 12 people will be aboard the Class VI van for the Fake Salt Lake trip - this should be a blast. Tina and her family will be meeting us up there as well - and another 8 or so C-Firmers will be there - making about two dozen Rapids fans going to the game. In addition - we're going to the Reserve match the following morning in Park City. We'll let you know how the trip was.
Please - take time to write quick emails about any interest in the above mentioned items.
Hey everyone, great result in Washington! Now for a US Open Cup win tomorrow.
Wednesday's Rapids at LA Open Cup match will not be televised, but you can follow the action on the Rapids website via web radio broadcast.
Fans can listen in to the action (courtesy of the LA radio broadcast) on the Rapids site by clicking here or going to the Rapids site directly and surfing around.
Please note the link will not be active until right before kickoff.
A few things:
There is ONE spot left open in the van going to Salt Lake City - overall I expect about 20 Rapids fans to be there. The costs look to be about $50 for transportation, $16 for the game ticket, and $30 to share a room or $60 to be alone - plus food and drink.
We leave Saturday Morning and come back Sunday afternoon. It's going to be fun - and would be a great way to get to know other CVIers.
(Thank you Tina for all your help!!)
Some ideas have surfaced recently:
-- An end of the season Party before the Saturday Oct 7th game vs NYRB - the last Rapids Home game. A get together for a couple hours before the game - maybe at the British Bulldog - or someplace else perhaps - Brooklyns accross the street. Volunteers for this effort needed - just drop me an email. I'll try getting some prizes from the team/players.
-- If you hadn't heard - Mike Petke's baby son is suffering from seizures. I'm going to drop a sympathy card in the mail to him from Class VI - not sure how I could get everyone to sign it in a timely fashion. The latest is that his son is at home with Mom, which sounds positive.
-- For next season, an idea was born - via the website after each game - CVIers will be able to rate players performances. Then each month - or maybe just at the end of the season - we will use the ratings to award a player as Class VI player of the year.
-- Also for next season, perhaps a Rapids prediction game - guess the result of the Rapids games - goal scorers - people getting cards (we'll have to mark Pablo by default!) - and award a Class VI guru or something.
Let me know if you have any other ideas for Class VI. Please, get involved! The more people that volunteer - the more good things Class VI can offer and grow.
Right now 11 Class VIers are making their way up to Salt Lake City for the last game of the Rocky Mountain Cup.
There is still one spot open in the 12 passanger van! Email me ASAP if you're interested.
Also of note - Class VI would like to welcome two LONG time Rapids fans - Jimmy and Rita. They will be joining next year in the new stadium.
Also, the CVI Indoor team lost on Sunday - their record is now 3-3.
Reminder: The first several kegs of beer are *FREE* Saturday morning at the British Bulldog for the opening of the English Premiere League season.
First game at 8am, doors open at 7am.
Even better... Rapids take on those wimps from DC on ESPN, viewing party at the British Bulldog, at 2pm!!!!
Where's the British Bulldog?
Location: 2052 Stout Street in Denver (Broadway and Stout are the cross streets. The British Bulldog is directly across from the Westar Bank location) Phone: 303-295-7974.
Here's a couple pix of the Bulldog!
See all y'all there for the beautiful English Breakfast and the Beautiful Game!
Cheers,
BilFish
As announced by the Rapids:
Fans of all ages are invited to join other soccer fans at the British Bulldog this Saturday for the Rapids at DC United Official Away-Game Viewing Party at 2:00pm!
Fans can partake in a full day of of soccer action as well, as the all-day festvities will begin at 7:00am as the British Bulldog will be showing live English Premiership Matchday 1 action.
At 2:00pm the Rapids take on DC United live on ESPN-2 in ESPN'S MLS Game of the Week! Food and drink specials are available for all fans who attend, and there is no admission charge.
I would like to add a couple more things: The Bulldog is no longer smokey - since the Denver smoking law went into affect. Also supporting soccer establishments like the Bulldog is important to the soccer loving community. Each gathering has been great fun this year - so please consider making it down there.
I just spoke with Issac the owner of the Bulldog - and he wanted me to spread the word on a special to kick of the EPL at 7AM - this is no joke - FREE BEER (while the kegs last). They do have a good breakfast there including a traditional English Breakfast - Bangers and all!
Finally, please consider making the Labor Day weekend trip up to Salt Lake City - it really is a fun time - and right now there are 5 people - possibly 7 going. This is going to be the basis for bigger and better trips next season hopefully - like MLS Cup and maybe the All Star game - assuming neither is in Commerce City!!! I want to get a full dozen together to fill a van - I see the travel costs at $50 for travel - plus food/drink - $16 ish game ticket - Hotel costs.
Good way to get to know your fellow VIers - plus a contingent of C-Firmers will be going as well.
If you're even considering let me know!
Few other things:
If you have an international flag - please bring them to the game. It'd be cool if someone were to volunteer to collect/bring them at every game.
Also remember - pins are available at $4 each - good way to introduce yourself to other VIers.
And finally, I want to welcome Lee and his Rapid Die Hards to Class VI - they sit at the top of the section in the Handicap seats - give the guys a howdy next home game.
Oh yeah - and the CVI indoor team has a winning record - 3 wins and 2 loses - way to turn it around!!!
Well we're closing in on 70!!!
Class VI would like to welcome Rachael B. and Danielle D.!!!
Remember to say hello to your fellow VIers.
Plans are being put together for a road trip ...
Let's go west to Salt Lake City with CVI to see the Rapids in a MUST WIN to retain the Rocky Mountain Cup against Fake Salt Lake!
Drop Mark an email: mark@rapidsclassvi.com if you're interested in traveling with us.
Give it some serious consideration! Heck, if it's successful, future trips could include the All-Star game and MLS Cup!!!
Both flying and taking a 12-person van will be considered for our transportation pleasure!
Important Class VI Seating Club Notice
Mark Bodmer has been negotiating with the Rapids on our behalf to give Class VI supporters the best opportunities in the new Rapids Stadium next year.
First, I want to applaud his efforts, which are bearing fruit. Every member of Class VI will be the beneficiary of this work with the Rapids.
Sometimes we get so wrapped up in what's going on during the season, we forget that Class VI is first and foremost a dream to create a great place to sit and cheer and yell and have a great time with the best soccer fans.
I think we're getting there, and want to thank Mark and staff from the Rapids for their efforts.
If you want to get in on the action —great seats, great cameraderie, great fun— then help us grow! Get your season tickets in the Class VI seating club. E-mail Mark Bodmer of Class VI with any questions you might have or if you need assistance.
And then join us!
How? Call Marcus Myrick of the Rapids ticket office at 303.405.6123 and ensure your season tickets (or 1/2 season tickets!) are in the Class VI area.
In two days (Wed night, 7:30pm, tailgate before game) the Rocky Mountain Cup will lead both the Rapids and FSL out onto the field. Only one team can win. And to the winner? Possession of the trophy for the next year. So far, Rapids fans have enjoyed the Cup's presence in Colorado since its inception.
Visit the Rocky Mountain Cup website for *full* details and the current standings.
More importantly... With a smackdown Wednesday night the Rapid will claim the Cup for a 2nd straight year.
Let's get out there and cheer the lads on. It's time to remind our pet FSL team that MLS is for real Mountain Men!
Oh, and feel free to consider fun and nasty things to do to the FSL mascot if he dares show his whiskers around Mile High. That Lion's got something unpleasant coming to him.
Well, it's been an interesting few weeks of negotiation with the team about our move to the new stadium in Commerce City!!!
So I've really not much to post on updates in that regard.
Welcome another new member to Class VI - Jake S.!!!
Also, the Indoor Team won 10-3 to move to 1-2 - everyone is having a great time.
Okay ... to make up for the lack of posts - check this out:
