Yup. It's true.
The Rapids/Arsenal will have "MLS First Kick" in the brand spank-me new Dick stadium on Saturday, April 7, 2007, 1:30pm.
Tailgating will start, if I'm not mistaken, at the stroke of midnight.
See you in 65 days and a few hours!
Sorry, correction... apparently we'll be there closer to about 8 or 9am for the start of tailgating!
Keep checking the Class VI Discussion Board for tailgate details and all the Class VI chat you can handle!
The Brighton Standard Blade is reporting confirmation that the Rapids are likely to change their name within the next two weeks.
Yep. After the Dicktator Jeff Plush guaranteed and promised in front of a crowd of fans that the Rapids would most definitely NOT change their name....
They are changing their name.
We are less confident in what the new name will be (i.e. don't sue us if I'm wrong). However...
Say hello to the Colorado Arsenal Soccer Club?
Needless to say, independent sources have confirmed the rumor to our satisfaction. It's going to happen.
Get over it. I guess.

If you are a new member, or just haven't gotten around to it yet, make sure you stop Mark Bodmer, Grand PooBah, next time you see him at a tailgate, pre-season meeting or party.
Ask to get your official Class VI pin! Just $4, and it goes towards getting our fearless leader out of jail, if and when the need arises.
Looks a bit like this....

With the pre-season starting on Thursday, it's GO TIME! for the Rapids PR machine.
Recent announcements, to catch ya up if you've been taking a break:
Thanks to all of you that believed in me and my wild prognostications.
See http://www.denverpost.com/sports/ci_5079940 for details.
Yes, the press conference is tomorrow, but the Rapids (ahem, MLS sources) always leak articles a day in advance to the Denver Post and RMN.
Of course, we won't know if all my predictions came true until tomorrow, as the article is woefully short on details.
There's a "major" and "historic" announcement tomorrow being made by the Rapids Dicktator Jeff Plush, new Colorado Guv Bill Ritter, and Don Garber's whipping boy.
Tomorrow, 11:30am in downtown Denver. Fans not invited, but can watch via live broadcast on the MLSnet.com website.
It's also being billed as "MLS Set for Denver announcement." The word "international" was used on MLS' website.
I'm assuming it's to announce the All-Star Game to be held in Denver this summer. This we know because the Don (MLS Commissioner Don Garber) told us Rapids fans directly during MLS Cup '06.
What we don't know, but can surmise, is the following:
. July timeframe.
. David Beckham will be an instant All-Star and be part of the game.
. We'll be playing a decent international side: Celtic of the Scottish Premiere League in this case.
We also don't know if the Rapids will use the one time anybody will be looking at us on a national basis to finally, officially, announce the new team colors. But I'd hope so.
Sue me if I'm wrong!

The first official Class VI super-meeting is today (Saturday, January 20th 2007) at the British Bulldog at noon.
Then at 3pm we watch the US Men's National Team attempt to redeem themselves against, uhhh, Denmark if I recall the correct Scandinavian powerhouse.
So. Be there if you are a Class VI member and you want to meet some of the folks helping to organize the group and some fo the new Class VI members.
Or if you just like Isaac's beer and food.
The Rapids have announced a Q & A with Coach Fernando Clavijo for supporters - you must RSVP - details below.
I strongly encourage everyone to to go. This is a wonderful opportunity to question/listen to Clavijo talk about tactics and roster moves. It should be a good event. Not too many MLS fans get an opportunity like this. I'm sure there will be some difficult questions asked of Clavijo, and this will be a rare opportunity to not have the Rapids Spin placed on the answers.
Remember the viewing party is on the 20th. Both events will be a great chance to meet fellow CVIers.
-----------------------------------
The Colorado Rapids are pleased to announce the next CLASS VI happy hour
event. Colorado Rapids head coach Fernando Clavijo will be discussing
and taking questions on the 2007 draft class and upcoming preseason
training!
This event will take place at Sobo 151 on Thursday, January 18th
beginning at 7pm. RSVP is required and can be done by contacting Marcus
at 303.405.6123 or email mmyrick@pepsicenter.com
This event also is a great opportunity to invite your friends who may be
interested in CLASS VI membership. Do your part to help grow CLASS VI
and bring at least 2 or more friends who may be interested in joining.
Hope everyone had great holidays - whatever ones those may be for you.
The first viewing party for 2007 will be Saturday, January 20th, for the US National Team vs Denmark in Bob Bradley's debut as National Team Manager at the British Bulldog - Downtown Denver at Stout and Broadway. I haven't talked to Issac the owner yet - but I'll try to get us a nice beverage deal - if there isn't already one.
The game starts at 3PM - however, the CVI committee will be meeting around noon for lunch and to discuss our plans and actions for the upcoming season - only 3 months away after all!! If you would like to come early and listen or contribute opinions and ideas - PLEASE DO. Remember, this is OUR supporters group and everyone's a part of it.
If you're new to CVI (and there are over 20 of you since the end of the season) come and meet other CVIers. Viewing parties are a lot of fun - and a great chance to meet people. The Bulldog has English Pub Food - Pakistani food - as well your traditional burgers. The food is considered by most to be very good - and as a true soccer bar - provided a lot of good viewing parties in 2006 for the Rapids as well as the World Cup.
ANYONE is welcome as well - they don't have to be CVIers. Maybe they're just curious to get a taste of Class VI.
I really hope to see a lot of you there - be sure to wear your pins so people know you're CVI - and be sure to say hello to other CVIers!
Also don't forget that you can get access to the CVI message boards by writing prk166@gmail.com (Allen) and requesting permission - this is where we're floating and discussing the ideas.
